I want to consume less and create more...

It made my day when I got an email from photographer Clay Enos that said simply: I dig your mantra.

I'm Travis Jon Allison. I'm a photographer from Southern Ontario, Canada and making art has always been my passion. Getting to be a photographer was one of my goals since I first borrowed my mom's Pentax Spotmatic camera and took it with me to camp for the weekend.

I thank you and my clients who have allowed me to share that passion and keep creating. It makes me very happy.

This blog is all part of my creating bug. I use it to keep a record of what's going on with me so that my clients can get to know me better and so my friends and family can keep up with what is going on in our world. One part photo album, one part journal and all me. Thanks for reading!

I hope you enjoy the blog. Please add me into your  feed reader.

The Magic Kingdom

Beth and I just got back from a wonderful trip to London England to shoot a wedding. It was a beautiful trip and we felt completely at home over there. It was a brilliant mix of city and country with the wedding in a church in Shenfield who’s first recorded wedding was in 1536. In the second half of the trip we went into London proper and fit as much touristy things as we could into 2 1/2 days.

It was an amazing adventure.

Pictures from Joanna & Phil’s wedding will be posted here soon but I thought I’d put up some of our more touristy shots.

I had a funny “old” experience when I got home. I was excited to take my film camera – the Lomo – with me and had that old experience of dropping of the film and having to wait a day to see what my pictures would look like. It was fun!

Arriving at Gatwick.

This was in Hyde Park, near Kensington Palace. Part of the park’s Diana Memorial, it’s an old tree trunk that has been carved with elves and birds. From a distance I thought it was a parrot cage.

The London Eye was a definitely a highlight for us. Here’s Beth looking West toward Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

Have you been to London? What was your favourite part?

Cambridge Wedding : Jennie + Keenan

On hot day in August, we became, once again, Cambridge wedding photographers. We started out our day at Jennie’s friend Lisa’s for hair and make-up (their’s… not mine) and then to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on the Hespeler side of town.

After family and bridal party photos outside of the church Jennie, Keenan, Beth and I drove to the Black Bridge north of the church. It was really great to have some quiet time before the reception for some beautiful wedding photos of just the two of them.

That night we had a beautiful dinner and _hilarious_ dance.

I hope you enjoy the photos!

Great Wedding Vendors

I’d love to also thank some of folks who alos worked at this wedding.

There were some amazing flowers from Zehr’s in Cambridge and I really enjoyed Holly Hall from My Wedding Hair.

Camp Kintail 2010

I am always excited to go back to Camp Kintail to shoot. This is the second year that I have been there to shoot for a day for their yearly promotional material. It’s great for me to get outside and be a summer camp photographer for a day.

I grew up at Kintail, a Presbyterian Church camp outside of Goderich, just like my mom and my grandfather. I was a camper, a Leader in Training, counsellor, Programme Director and Leadership Training Director there and I still feel a strong connection with the place.

Here are some pictures from my day at camp.20-08-10_Kintail3-23.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-67.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-132.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-185.jpg  20-08-10_Kintail3-285.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-310.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-334.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-388.jpg   20-08-10_Kintail3-509.jpg20-08-10_Kintail3-550.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-573.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-585.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-652.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-863.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-942.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-1264.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-1297.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-1587.jpg 20-08-10_Kintail3-1725.jpg 19-08-10_Kintail3-149.jpg

When I was at the top of the climbing wall (a great new installation from Adventureworks) I got Axis to do a big dyno for me. Little did he know I’d ask him to do it over and over again. Here’s a series from those big jumps.20-08-10_Kintail3-499.jpg20-08-10_Kintail3-501.jpg20-08-10_Kintail3-502.jpg20-08-10_Kintail3-503.jpg20-08-10_Kintail3-504.jpg20-08-10_Kintail3-505.jpg

Woodstock Engagement : Lisa + Paul

It is great being a Woodstock wedding photographer. This town is full of old parks with lots of trees (and the shade necessary for a mid-day shoot) and some brilliant old Victorian architecture.

I just saw Lisa’s picture from their honeymoon in Italy and that reminded me that I hadn’t yet posted these picture from their engagement session.

Enjoy!

The Allens at the beach

On a beautiful sunny Sunday Beth and I drove down to Lake Erie to take some pictures with the Allen Family. Megan and Rebecca arranged the photoshoot for their mom and dad’s 25th wedding anniversary.

I love ending a photoshoot with homemade food around a table at the cottage. Thanks Allens!
